Born in Navsari, Gujrat, India, Dharmesh Patel moved to the United States and grew up in North Bergen, NJ. In 2000, he graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City.

After graduating from the Cooper Union, Dharmesh sought out the experimentation of architectural tectonics and began working as a furniture fabricator and a boat builder. This experience directly complemented his design philosophy, which further impacted his ideas of building and creating architecture. He started and operated a design-build furniture firm in Brooklyn, NY for several years and taught architecture design at NYIT and NJIT.

In 2007 he graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art where he was awarded the Daimler Chrysler Emerging Artist Award. Where he was commissioned to do an installation for Art Forum Berlin. After his return from the residency in Berlin, he continues his practice of architecture, fabrication, research and its integration into the social fabric. Dharmesh has exhibited his work at the Young Designers Showcase in Chelsea, NY, Jersey City Arts Tour & Festival, The Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.
